Lahiru Kumara (Chandradasa Brahammana Ralalage Lahiru Sudesh Kumara) is a professional cricketer from Sri Lanka. He was born on February 13, 1997, in Kandy, Sri Lanka. He plays for the Sri Lanka national cricket team across all formats of the game. Kumara is a right-arm fast bowler known for his raw pace and ability to generate bounce. He was included in the international squad at 19 due to his rapid bowling skills and strong performances in the Under-19 team. Kumara made his international debut for Sri Lanka in a Test match against South Africa in December 2016.
Kumara quickly gained attention for his express pace and ability to trouble batsmen with his aggressive bowling style. Kumara has since become a regular member of the Sri Lankan bowling attack in Test cricket. While Lahiru Kumara has primarily featured in Test matches, he has also represented Sri Lanka in limited-overs cricket. He made his One Day International (ODI) debut against Zimbabwe in July 2017 and has played a few ODIs for Sri Lanka. However, his primary focus has been on Test cricket, where he has had more success.

Lahiru Kumara Career
Lahiru Kumara began his domestic cricket career with his first-class debut for Sri Lanka A in October 2016, showcasing his early talents. He expanded his experience by playing Twenty20 cricket for Nondescripts Cricket Club in the 2017–18 SLC Twenty20 Tournament. Kumara's journey continued as he joined different provincial teams, representing Kandy in the 2017–18 Super Four Provincial Tournament and participating in the 2018 Super Provincial One Day Tournament.
Kumara's skills earned him a spot with Galle's squad in the 2018 SLC T20 League, His journey continued to the T20 stage when he was drafted by the Dambulla Viiking for the inaugural Lanka Premier League in October 2020. Kumara was named to the SLC Greens team for the 2021 SLC Invitational T20 League, he was selected to play for the Kandy Warriors following the players' draft for the 2021 Lanka Premier League.
Before his senior debut, Kumara was already making waves as part of Sri Lanka's squad for the 2016 Under-19 Cricket World Cup. In the tournament, he played a crucial role, helping the Sri Lanka U-19s team reach the semi-finals. Alongside fellow pacer Asitha Fernando, Kumara's contributions were vital as they secured victory in the semi-final with a six-wicket margin.
Lahiru Kumara received another opportunity to showcase his talents on the international stage when Lahiru Kumara was selected for Sri Lanka's Test squad for their tour of Zimbabwe in October 2016. He made his Test debut for Sri Lanka against Zimbabwe on 29 October 2016. He took his maiden Test wicket by dismissing Peter Moor. Lahiru Kumara was named in Sri Lanka's One Day International (ODI) Squad for the Tri-Series in Zimbabwe, with West Indies being the third team.
Kumara was called up for the Test series against South Africa in 2016–17. He was part of the second Test at Newlands Cricket Ground, where Kumara secured his maiden Test five-wicket haul, a notable feat in his career. His remarkable performance yielded figures of 6 wickets for 122 runs, making it not only the best bowling performance by a Sri Lankan pacer in South Africa but also the second-best overall in the country's cricket history.
Kumara joined Sri Lanka's ODI squad for a series against South Africa in January 2017, He made his ODI debut on 4 February 2017 at the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg. In the match, he scored 5 runs and took his first ODI wicket by dismissing Quinton de Kock for 8 runs.
Kumara was one of 33 cricketers to receive a national contract from Sri Lanka Cricket for the 2018–19 season. he was named in Sri Lanka's squad for a one-off Twenty20 International (T20I) match against South Africa in August 2018, although he did not play.
Kumara was dropped from Sri Lanka's Test squad for their series against England due to disciplinary reasons. Lahiru Kumara was selected for Sri Lanka's Twenty20 International (T20I) squad for a one-off T20I against New Zealand. Kumara made his T20I debut in that match against New Zealand on 11 January 2019. Later that month, he suffered a hamstring injury during the first Test in Brisbane against Australia. As a result, he was unable to participate in the second Test against Australia in Canberra and the tour of South Africa.
Kumara was initially named as one of four reserve players in Sri Lanka's squad for the 2021 ICC Men's T20 World Cup. However, in October 2021, Lahiru Kumara, along with three other cricketers, was added to Sri Lanka's main 15-man squad. Kumara made his Twenty20 World Cup debut against Namibia on 18 October 2021, taking 2 wickets and finishing the match with figures of 2-9 from 3.3 overs.
