Angelo Mathews (Angelo Davis Mathews) is a professional cricketer from Sri Lanka and a former captain in all formats. He was born on June 2, 1987, in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Mathews is an all-rounder who bats right-handed and also bowls right-arm medium pace. Mathews made his international debut for Sri Lanka in a One Day International (ODI) match against Zimbabwe in November 2008.
He quickly established himself as a key player for Sri Lanka in all formats of the game. Known for his solid batting technique, he has played many crucial innings for the team in both ODIs and Test matches. Mathews is also a handy medium-paced bowler. He has the ability to swing the ball and often provides important breakthroughs for his team. Mathews has played a crucial role in the Sri Lankan bowling attack.
Angelo Mathews has also served as the captain of the Sri Lanka national cricket team. He led the team across all three formats from 2013 to 2018. Under his captaincy, Sri Lanka achieved several significant victories, including their first Test series win in England in 2014 and reaching the final of the 2012 ICC World Twenty20.
Mathews was born to Tamil father Tyronne Mathews and Burgher mother Monica Mathews. Mathews Sirster's name is Trevin Mathew and his brother's name is Elaine Melinda. Mathews is Roman Catholic and was educated at St. Joseph's College, Colombo. Mathews is married to his long-time partner, Heshanie Silva. The wedding reception was held on 18 July 2013 at Cinnamon Grand Hotel with the presence of former president Mahinda Rajapakse. The Couple has four children.

Angelo Mathews played for Delhi Capitals in the 2017 season of the Indian Premier League, He's a highly sought-after player in the league and was purchased by the Pune Warriors for a whopping US$950,000. he was named as the captain of Kandy's team for the Super Four Provincial Tournament in March 2018. He also led Kandy in the Super Provincial One-Day Tournament. He took up the captain's role again for Kandy in the SLC T20 League in August 2018, Later, he joined the Colombo Kings for the first-ever Lanka Premier League in October 2020, and he signed up with the Colombo Stars for the league's third edition in 2022.
Angelo Mathews began his international cricket career in 2008. He initially aimed to be an all-rounder but later focused more on his batting to reduce his workload and prevent injuries. In Test matches, he mostly plays as a specialist batsman. However, in limited-overs cricket, he remains a valuable all-rounder, known for his ability to score quickly in the final overs.
