Shaheen Shah Afridi is a successful Pakistani cricketer, born on April 6, 2000, in Landi Kotal, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. He's a key player for the Pakistan cricket team in all formats and is known as one of the world's best bowlers.
Shaheen Shah Afridi leads the Lahore Qalandars in the Pakistan Super League (PSL). Under his captaincy, Lahore Qalandars secured their first PSL title in the 2022 season and remarkably defended their title in the 2023 season, a historic achievement in PSL history.
Shaheen comes from the Zakhakhel Afridi tribe of the Pashtuns and grew up in Landi Kotal, a town on the Pakistan-Afghanistan border. His father's name is Ayaz Khan. He's the youngest of seven brothers, and one of his older brothers, Riaz Afridi, played a Test match for Pakistan in 2004. His cousin Yasir Afridi is a professional footballer who has represented the Pakistan national football team.

Shaheen Shah Afridi received an honorary Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) rank in the KPK Police as a goodwill ambassador in July 2022. & In January 2023, it was announced that Afridi would design Lahore Qalandars' new kits for the 2023 PSL season.
Shaheen Shah Afridi Career
Shaheen Shah Afridi began his cricket journey at Tatara Ground in Landi Kotal. He switched from tennis-ball cricket to hard-ball cricket in 2015 during the FATA Under-16 trials, under the guidance of Riaz Afridi. His impressive performance led to his selection for the Under-16 tour of Australia in November 2015, where he contributed significantly with four wickets during the One-Day and Twenty20 series. Shaheen represented Pakistan Under-19 cricket in the Under-19 Asia Cup 2016 in Sri Lanka. He played a pivotal role by taking three wickets for 27 runs in Pakistan's nine-wicket victory over Singapore.
Shaheen signed a two-year contract with Dhaka Dynamites in the Bangladesh Premier League in September 2017. He made his first-class debut for Khan Research Laboratories in the 2017–18 Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, where he made history by taking 8 wickets for 39 runs in the second innings, the best figures by a Pakistani bowler on a first-class debut.
Shaheen Shah Afridi was named in Pakistan's squad for the 2018 Under-19 Cricket World Cup, emerging as the leading wicket-taker for Pakistan with 12 wickets. His impressive performance earned him the title of the rising star of the squad by the International Cricket Council (ICC). Shaheen made his Twenty20 debut for Lahore Qalandars in the 2018 Pakistan Super League and had a remarkable game with five wickets for four runs. In April 2018, he made his List A debut for Baluchistan.
Shaheen Shah Afridi was set to play for the Rotterdam Rhinos in the Euro T20 Slam in July 2019, but the tournament was canceled the following month. In December 2019, he signed up to play for Hampshire County Cricket Club in the 2020 T20 Blast in England. Shaheen achieved a remarkable feat in the T20 Blast, taking a hat-trick and four wickets in four balls in september 2020, recording the best-ever bowling figures at the Rose Bowl in T20 cricket. after a month he secured another five-wicket haul in the 2020–21 National T20 Cup with figures of 5/20. Shaheen also represented Middlesex in domestic matches in England until May 2022.
Shaheen Shah Afridi was named the captain of Lahore Qalandars, leading the team to victory in the 2022 PSL while becoming the youngest captain to win a T20 league. He also finished as the leading wicket-taker in the tournament. and remarkably defended their title in the 2023 season, a historic achievement in PSL history.
Shaheen Afridi's international cricket journey began when he made his T20I debut for Pakistan in April 2018, playing against the West Indies. His entry into the world of One Day Internationals (ODIs) came in September 2018 during the 2018 Asia Cup when he played his first ODI match against Afghanistan. Soon after, in November 2018, he was named in Pakistan's Test squad for their series against New Zealand, marking his Test debut against New Zealand on December 3, 2018.
Shaheen Shah Afridi's participation in the Cricket World Cup 2019 as he was named in Pakistan's squad for the tournament held in England. In a standout performance during the World Cup match against Bangladesh, Shaheen Afridi achieved a remarkable feat by taking six wickets for just 35 runs. This performance not only made him the youngest bowler to claim a five-wicket haul in a World Cup match but also marked the best bowling figures by a Pakistani bowler in a World Cup game.
Shaheen Shah Afridi's excellence extended to Test cricket, as in December 2019, during a Test match against Sri Lanka, Afridi secured his first five-wicket haul. he was included in Pakistan's 29-man squad for the tour to England in June 2020. Later, in September 2021, Shaheen Afridi was named in Pakistan's squad for the 2021 ICC Men's T20 World Cup.
Recognizing his outstanding performance in 2021, the International Cricket Council (ICC) awarded him the title of Cricketer of the Year in January 2022. This award came as he had taken a remarkable 78 wickets in 36 international matches during the year, solidifying his status as a prominent figure in international cricket.
