Abrar Ahmed is a talented cricketer from Pakistan. He was born on October 16, 1998, in Karachi. In December 2022, he got the opportunity to join the Pakistan cricket team for a series against England. He made his Test debut in the 2nd Test match in Multan and performed exceptionally well. He took 7 wickets for 114 runs in England's first innings and 4 for 120 in the second, achieving an impressive total of 11 wickets in his first Test.
Abrar Ahmed comes from a family that loves cricket. His brother Shahzad Khan used to be a fast bowler for National Bank. Abrar has also memorized the entire Qur'an and is considered a hafiz.
He started his journey in cricket by playing tape-ball cricket. His family, especially his mother and siblings, supported his cricket dreams. Even his father, who was initially hesitant, is now supportive of his career. Originally from Shinkiari, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the family moved to Karachi.
Abrar Ahmed Career
Abrar Ahmad's domestic cricket career began with the Rashid Latif Academy. He stepped into the T20 format, making his debut for Karachi Kings in the 2017 Pakistan Super League on February 10, 2017. In November 2020, he ventured into first-class cricket, representing Sindh in the 2020–21 Quaid-e-Azam Trophy. His journey continued as he was selected for the Pakistan Shaheens squad during their Sri Lanka tour in October 2021.
Abrar Ahmad extended his experience into List A cricket on November 11, 2021, playing for the Pakistan Shaheens against the Sri Lanka A cricket team. His performances in these formats led to recognition and praise, with Islamabad United picking him in the draft for the 2023 Pakistan Super League, and former Pakistan spinner Saeed Ajmal acknowledging his talent during the draft ceremony.
In December 2022, Abrar Ahmed had his first game for Pakistan in a Test match against England. It was an incredible debut as he became the first Pakistani bowler to take five wickets in the very first session of his Test career. He finished with a total of 7 wickets for 114 runs in the first innings and 4 wickets for 120 runs in the second innings. This amazing performance also made him the thirteenth Pakistani bowler to achieve a five-wicket haul on their Test debut.
After that, Abrar Ahmed was chosen to represent Pakistan in a Test series against New Zealand. In the first innings of the first Test in that series, he once again did exceptionally well by taking five wickets in an innings. This outstanding start to his international career showed his growing talent and promise in cricket.
