Azam Khan is a Pakistani cricketer who represents Islamabad United and Sindh. He started playing for the Pakistan national cricket team in July 2021. He was born on August 10, 1998, in Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan, Azam is renowned for his ability to hit powerful shots. He looks up to West Indies cricketer Chris Gayle as his role model for batting.
Azam Khan is the son of Moin Khan, a former Pakistani international cricketer. His brother, Owais Khan, is married to the actress Mariam Ansari. Azam has faced criticism for his fitness in the past, but before the start of the PSL 2020, he put in the effort. He trained with Shehzar Mohammad for about four months, shedding 14 kilograms in the process.
Azam Khan Career
Azam Khan made his debut in List A cricket, representing Pakistan Television in the 2018–19 Quaid-e-Azam One Day Cup in September 2018. He ventured into the world of Twenty20 cricket, making his debut for the Quetta Gladiators in the 2019 Pakistan Super League.
Azam was drafted by the Galle Gladiators in 2020 for the inaugural season of the Lanka Premier League in Sri Lanka. Azam Khan made his debut in first-class cricket, representing Sindh in the 2020–21 Quaid-e-Azam Trophy. then he was named in the Barbados Royals' squad for the 2021 Caribbean Premier League.
Azam Khan's return to the Pakistan Super League, as he was signed by Islamabad United following the players' draft for the 2022 season. He was signed by the Galle Gladiators for the third edition of the Lanka Premier League. which was played in Sri Lanka in 2022.
He was signed by the Khulna Tigers in November 2022, to play for them in the 2022–23 Bangladesh Premier League. In the sixth match of the league, he hit his maiden century in T20 cricket, scoring an unbeaten 109 runs off 58 balls.
In June 2021, Azam Khan was named in Pakistan in the Twenty20 International (T20I) squads for their tours of England and the West Indies. It was a significant moment for him as he made his T20I debut during that tour against England, marking the start of his international career.
By September 2021, he had earned a spot in Pakistan's squad for the 2021 ICC Men's T20 World Cup However, in the following month, he was replaced in the squad by Sarfaraz Ahmed.
