Saud Shakeel is a Pakistani cricketer. he was born on 5 September 1995 in Karachi and made his international debut for the Pakistan cricket team in July 2021. He is known for his elegant batting style and the ability to anchor an innings.
Saud spent his early years at the Sagheer Centre of the Federal B. Area. He made his first-class debut in 2015 and has been associated with various cricket teams, including Quetta Gladiators in the Pakistan Super League.
In July 2023, he became the first Pakistani to score a Test double century in Sri Lanka. Saud Shakeel is known for his good technique and temperament for building long innings.
He has been a consistent performer in domestic cricket and has been part of Pakistan's international cricket squads. He made his World Cup debut in 2023 against the Netherlands and was named the man of the match for his performance.
Saud Shakeel Career
Shakeel kicked off his domestic career by making his first-class debut in the 2015–16 Quaid-e-Azam Trophy on October 26, 2015. In the following years, he showcased his talent and was selected to play for the Quetta Gladiators in the 2018 Pakistan Super League draft.
He proved his mettle in domestic cricket by being the top run-scorer for Pakistan Television in the 2017–18 Quaid-e-Azam Trophy and continued to impress in the 2018–19 season.
Shakeel's journey in international cricket began in December 2018 when he was picked for Pakistan's team in the 2018 ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup. He was a consistent performer, earning a spot in the squads for various domestic and international tournaments.
In July 2021, he marked his One Day International (ODI) debut for Pakistan against England. His international career continued, and he was named the captain of the Pakistan Shaheens for their tour of Sri Lanka in October 2021.
Shakeel's excellence in Test cricket shone through in the series against New Zealand in January 2023, where he scored his maiden Test century. His outstanding performance secured his place in Pakistan's squad for the Cricket World Cup 2023 in India. In his World Cup debut against the Netherlands on October 6, 2023, he made a significant impact by scoring 68 runs and receiving the Man of the Match award.
