Ishan Kishan

Ishan Kishan, an Indian wicketkeeper-batter born on July 18, 1998, in Patna, Bihar, is a left-handed batter who can also bowl right-arm leg-break. He made his first-class debut for Jharkhand in December 2014, where he impressed with a century and five fifties during his first Ranji season 2014. In a Ranji Trophy match against Delhi in November 2016, he scored a remarkable 273 runs, setting a record for Jharkhand.

Ishan also captained the India U19 team in the 2016 ICC U19 World Cup, leading them to the finals. Despite not performing well with the bat, he caught the attention of selectors due to his captaincy. His consistency in domestic cricket and the IPL earned him a spot in the Indian ODI and T20I squads for the Sri Lanka tour in June 2021. In 2022, he made headlines by scoring a double-century against Bangladesh.

Ishan Kishan was born in a Bhumihar Brahmin family. He hails from a small city Nawada in Bihar. His father, Pranav Kumar Pandey is a builder by profession in Patna. Due to registration issues between the Bihar Cricket Association and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Ishan started playing for the neighboring state of Jharkhand.
