Hashmatullah Shahidi is an Afghan cricketer and is currently the captain of the Afghanistan national cricket team in One Day International and Test cricket. He made his One Day International (ODI) debut for Afghanistan against Kenya in October 2013. He was part of the team that played in Afghanistan’s very first Test match against India in June 2018. He made history by becoming the first Afghan player to score a double hundred in a Test match, hitting an unbeaten 200 against Zimbabwe on March 11, 2021.

Hashmatullah Shahidi In the final of the 2017–18 Ahmad Shah Abdali 4-day Tournament, he made his mark by scoring 163 runs in the first innings for Band-e-Amir Region against Speen Ghar Region. He also achieved a unique feat in ODI cricket. In an ODI series against Ireland on May 21, 2019, which was played in Ireland, he hit his first international six, having scored 865* runs without hitting a six in ODIs before that.
In March 2021, he made history by becoming the first Afghan player to score a double hundred in a Test match. He scored an unbeaten 200 runs in Afghanistan’s first innings against Zimbabwe. His journey also took him to the 2019 Cricket World Cup as he was named in Afghanistan’s squad for the tournament. In a match against England, he reached a milestone of 1,000 runs in ODIs on June 18, 2019.
