Rahmanullah Gurbaz is an Afghan cricketer. who plays as an opening batsman and wicketkeeper for the Afghanistan cricket team. He was born on 28 November 2001 in Kabul, Afghanistan. He plays for the Afghanistan team in limited-over cricket one-day International (ODI) and Tweenty20 International (T20I). He made his international debut for Afghanistan in September 2019. His father and mother are from the Gurbaz tribe in Afghanistan. he became the first batsman for Afghanistan to score a century on debut in a One Day International (ODI) match in January 2021.

Rahmanullah Gurbaz Career

Rahmanullah Gurbaz's domestic cricket journey began with his List A debut for Afghanistan A against Zimbabwe A in January 2017. He later entered the world of Twenty20 cricket, making his debut with the Mis Ainak Knights during the 2017 Shpageeza Cricket League.

He made his first-class debut for Mis Ainak Region in the 2018 Ahmad Shah Abdali 4-day Tournament. His talent led to his selection in Paktia's squad for the inaugural Afghanistan Premier League tournament in September 2018. Later in November 2019, Gurbaz joined the Khulna Tigers for the 2019–20 Bangladesh Premier League.

Rahmanullah Gurbaz was named in the Barbados Tridents squad for the 2020 Caribbean Premier League. Multan Sultans signed him for the rescheduled matches in the 2021 Pakistan Super League. He then found himself joining the Jaffna Kings after the players' draft for the 2021 Lanka Premier League in November.

Rahmanullah Gurbaz was signed by Islamabad United following the players' draft for the 2022 Pakistan Super League in December 2021. He was named as Jason Roy's replacement in the Gujarat Titans squad for the 2022 Indian Premier League. His journey continued as he joined the Jaffna Kings for the third edition of the Lanka Premier League in July 2022.

Gurbaz was traded to the Kolkata Knight Riders ahead of the IPL 2023, marking the next phase of his domestic cricket career with the two-time IPL champions. He made his debut for them against the Punjab Kings.

Rahmanullah Gurbaz's international journey began in December 2017 when he was named in Afghanistan's squad for the 2018 Under-19 Cricket World Cup. He emerged as Afghanistan's leading run-scorer in the 2018 ACC Under-19 Asia Cup. He was named in Afghanistan's under-23 team for the 2018 ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup.

Rahmanullah Gurbaz took a step into the Twenty20 International (T20I) scene, being named in Afghanistan's squad for the 2019–20 Bangladesh Tri-Nation Series in August 2019. He made his T20I debut for Afghanistan in September 2019 against Zimbabwe. and he made his One Day International (ODI) debut for Afghanistan against Ireland, scoring a remarkable 127 runs on 21 January 2021. This achievement made him the first Afghan player to score a century on ODI debut and the 16th player overall.

His international career continued with his inclusion in Afghanistan's squad for the 2021 ICC Men's T20 World Cup. Looking ahead, he was also named in Afghanistan's squad for the 2023 ODI Cricket World Cup in September 2023, marking a promising path in the world of international cricket.
