Azmatullah Omarzai is an Afghan cricketer. He plays One-day international (ODI) and T20 international (T20I) both formats for Afghanistan. He was born on 24 March 2000 in Nangarhar, Afghanistan. He made his international debut for the Afghanistan cricket team in January 2021. He is known for his all-rounder skills. He bats right-handed and bowls right-arm fast-medium.
Azmatullah Omarzai Career
Azmatullah began his domestic cricket career in Afghanistan in 2017, making his List A debut for Mis Ainak Region in the Ghazi Amanullah Khan Regional One Day Tournament. He then progressed to first-class cricket, debuting for Speen Ghar Region in the Ahmad Shah Abdali 4-day Tournament in 2018.
In 2018, he participated in the Afghanistan Premier League for Paktia and made his Twenty20 debut for Paktia Panthers during the 2018–19 Afghanistan Premier League. His domestic success continued in 2020 when he was named the joint winner of the Player of the Tournament award in the Shpageeza Cricket League, showcasing his talent in the domestic cricket scene.
Azmatullah Omarzai's international cricket career with Afghanistan began in the youth ranks, as he was named in the squad for the 2018 Under-19 Cricket World Cup and later in the under-23 team for the 2018 ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup.
He made his senior international debut for Afghanistan in January 2021, playing his first One Day International (ODI) against Ireland. In February 2022, he extended his international career by debuting in Twenty20 International (T20I) cricket for Afghanistan against Bangladesh.
