Zak Crawley is an English professional cricketer who plays for the England cricket team in test and one-day International format. He was born on 3 February 1998 in Bromley, Greater London England. He is a right-handed top-order batsman who bowls Right-arm off-break. He has captained England in One Day Internationals.
Zak went to New Beacon School in Sevenoaks and then Tonbridge School. His father, Terry, started as a carpet fitter but later became one of the UK's highest-paid individuals in the finance world, even making it to the Sunday Times Rich List. Zak started playing cricket for Kent when he was just 11 years old and worked his way up through the ranks.
He played for clubs like Holmesdale Cricket Club, Knockholt Cricket Club, and Sevenoaks Vine. At 15, in 2013, he made his debut for Kent's Second XI. By the end of the 2015 season, he signed his first professional contract with Kent. He also joined the England Elite Player Development for London program and even played cricket in Australia for Wembley Districts during the 2016–17 English winter.
Crawley made his international debut for England in November 2019 in the second Test match of England's tour of New Zealand. Following a score of 267 runs in 2020, he was named one of the Wisden Cricketers of the Year in the 2021 edition of the Almanack. Crawley's mentor is former Kent captain Rob Key, Key was appointed as Director of Men's Cricket by the England and Wales Cricket Board in 2022.
Zak Crawley Career
Zak Crawley made his senior debut for Kent in May 2017 in the Royal London Cup. He then played his first first-class match for Kent in August 2017 against the West Indies, scoring 62 runs. In the same month, he made his County Championship debut. His promising performance led to a contract extension with Kent in October 2017.
Zak Crawley was part of the Kent squad for the 2017–18 Regional Super50 competition in the West Indies in early 2018. During this, he scored his first List A cricket half-century against Guyana and a remarkable 99 not out against the Leeward Islands.
He became a regular in the Kent team in 2018, playing all the first-class matches and some limited-overs games. He scored his maiden first-class century in September, making 168 runs against Glamorgan. In the following season, he played New South Wales Grade cricket, setting a new record for the fastest century in the T20 Cup.
Zak Crawley signed a contract extension with Kent and started training for international fixtures. He played for England in Test matches, scoring his maiden Test century and breaking records with a double century. He was named one of the Wisden Cricketers of the Year in 2021. Crawley continued to represent England in various series, including tours to India, New Zealand, and Pakistan. He showed his potential as a batsman and set records for England along the way.
