As per reports, Dasun Shanaka was absent from Sri Lanka’s practice sessions in Lucknow in preparation for their crucial encounter with Australia. Additionally, it’s worth noting that the emerging Sri Lankan fast bowler, Matheesha Pathirana, has been sidelined for his team’s next two World Cup 2023 fixtures due to a shoulder injury.
Dasun Shanaka ruled out of Sri Lanka’s World Cup 2023 match against Australia
Dasun Shanaka, who played a fantastic innings of 68 runs in a close game against South Africa in Delhi, couldn’t continue his good form when Sri Lanka faced Pakistan in the next match of the World Cup 2023 in Hyderabad. Unfortunately, the team, already dealing with many injuries and two losses in the tournament, has to face another setback as their captain, Dasun Shanaka, won’t be able to play in the crucial match against Australia on 16 October. Dasun Shanaka got injured during one of Sri Lanka’s recent practice sessions.
Just a day before this significant setback, the young Sri Lankan fast bowler Matheesha Pathirana was also sidelined for his team’s next two matches in the World Cup 2023 due to a shoulder injury. Pathirana underwent scans, and the results showed that he wouldn’t be able to play in the matches against Australia and the Netherlands.
