Steven Smith is a great batsman in modern cricket who represents Australia in all formats of the game. He began his international career in T20Is in February 2010 against Pakistan and made his ODI debut against West Indies in the same month. A few months later, Smith earned his Test cap against Pakistan at Lord's in 2010.
Smith's performance in ODIs and T20Is is good, but his real strength lies in Test cricket. He is known for his unique batting style and his ability to play various shots. When he's in form, there are few better Test batters globally. He has an exceptional Test average and can handle both fast bowlers and spinners, even on challenging pitches.
One of Smith's remarkable innings came during the 2016-17 Border Gavaskar Trophy in India when he scored 109 runs on a turning pitch in Pune. This is considered one of the best centuries by an overseas batter in India.
In 2018, Smith was involved in the infamous "sandpaper gate" scandal during a Test in Cape Town, South Africa, and was subsequently suspended from all forms of cricket. He made a memorable comeback during the Ashes series in England the following year, where he scored three centuries, including a double century, helping Australia retain the Ashes urn. Despite facing jeers and boos from the English crowd, he emerged as the leading run-scorer in the series.
