Rony Talukdar is a Bangladeshi cricketer. He is a right-handed batter. He was born on 10 October 1990 in a Hindu family in the Narayanganj district of Bangladesh. He made his Twenty20 International (T20I) debut for Bangladesh in July 2015 against South Africa. and he made his One Day International (ODI) debut against Ireland in May 2023. He plays first-class cricket for Dhaka Division in Bangladesh. He was part of Bangladesh's squad for the Under-19 World Cup in 2008. His Brother Jony Talukdar also plays cricket for the Dhaka Division.
Rony Talukdar Career
During the 2014-15 first-class season, as an opening batsman for Dhaka Division, Rony Talukdar left his mark by scoring 227, 163, and 201 runs in three innings, contributing to three consecutive victories. he forged remarkable opening partnerships, including one of 314 runs with Abdul Mazid.
In October 2018, Rony Talukdar earned a spot in the Dhaka Dynamites team for the 2018–19 Bangladesh Premier League. He continued to impress in domestic cricket, emerging as the leading run-scorer for Dhaka Division in the 2018–19 National Cricket League.
His talent extended to the East Zone, where he was again the top run-scorer in the tournament, amassing 460 runs in six matches. In November 2019, he was selected to play for the Sylhet Thunder in the 2019–20 Bangladesh Premier League. he was named in the Rangpur Riders' squad for the 2022–23 Bangladesh Premier League.
In the second match of the tournament, Rony Talukdar made a memorable impact by smashing 67 runs from just 31 balls, propelling the Rangpur Riders to a convincing 34-run victory over the Comilla Victorians. He reached his fifty in just 19 balls, setting a record for the fastest half-century by a Bangladeshi batter in the history of the Bangladesh Premier League. In his international cricket career, Rony marked his debut in the Twenty20 International (T20I) format against South Africa on July 7, 2015.
In March 2023, Rony returned to Bangladesh's T20I squad after 8 years as he was selected to play in the series against England. He also showcased his versatility as a cricketer by being named in Bangladesh's One Day International (ODI) and T20I squads for their series against Ireland in the same month. During the 1st T20I of that series, he achieved a significant personal milestone by scoring his maiden half-century in international cricket in just 24 balls, recording the third-fastest fifty by a Bangladeshi batter in T20Is.
His noteworthy performance of 67 runs off 38 balls helped Bangladesh post a formidable total of 207/5, becoming their third-highest score in T20Is. This highlighted Rony's contribution to the team and his continued growth as a cricketer. In May 2023, he extended his international journey by making his debut in One Day International (ODI) cricket against Ireland.
