Nat Sciver-Brunt (Natalie Ruth Sciver-Brunt) is an English cricketer who plays for the England cricket team in all formats. She was born on 20 August 1992 in Tokyo, Japan. She is known for her all-rounder skills as she bats right-handed and bowls right-arm medium. She was the first cricketer for England to take a hat-trick in a Women's Twenty20 International match. Sciver captained the England team for the first time in international cricket, for the third WT20I match against New Zealand after Heather Knight was ruled out of the fixture due to an injury on 7 March 2021.
Sciver was chosen to lead the England cricket team in a WT20I series against India because Heather Knight wasn't available. But, two days later, she decided to step down from this role. She did this to take care of her mental health and overall well-being.
Sciver was born in Tokyo, Japan, because her mom, Julia Longbottom, worked as a British diplomat there. Her mother has been the UK Ambassador to Japan since March 2021. Her dad, Richard, is a business executive. When she was a child, Sciver also lived in Poland, where she played women's league football, and in the Netherlands, where she played basketball.
Sciver attended Epsom College in Surrey, England, from 2007 to 2011, where she played cricket alongside her future England teammate Alice Davidson-Richards. Later, she studied sports and exercise science at Loughborough University.
Sciver shared her engagement news with Katherine Brunt, a fellow England cricketer in October 2019. They planned to marry in September 2020, but the COVID-19 pandemic delayed their wedding. Finally, in May 2022, they tied the knot and both adopted the name Sciver-Brunt. In January 2023, it was decided that they would use this combined name for all cricket-related matters.
