In 2016, during the Women's County Championship, Gibson emerged as Gloucestershire's leading wicket-taker with 13 wickets. She continued to excel in 2017, taking her first county five-wicket haul with figures of 5/17.
She then moved to Wales in 2018 and became one of their leading wicket-takers in the Women's Twenty20 Cup in 2018. In 2019, she scored her first half-century for Wales. Gibson also played for Western Storm in the Women's Cricket Super League between 2017 and 2019, where she made significant contributions as a bowler.
In 2020, she played for Western Storm in the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy and continued to represent them in 2021, taking wickets in the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy and the Charlotte Edwards Cup. She also played for London Spirit in The Hundred, both as a batswoman and a bowler.
Danielle Gibson continued her strong performances for Western Storm in 2022, being their second-highest run-scorer in the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy and also taking wickets. In 2023, she was named vice-captain of Western Storm and led the team in some matches.
In September 2023, she was drafted by Adelaide Strikers for the 2023–24 Women's Big Bash League season. Gibson has represented various England Academy and Development teams since 2014. She has had a diverse and successful domestic cricket career.
