Pakistani citizens who want to change their age on their passports can now follow an official process set by the government. To update the age on a passport, applicants must provide valid proof and required documents to support their request.
The Pakistani government issues passports to its legal citizens, allowing them to travel internationally. These passports also help Pakistani citizens receive assistance and protection from Pakistan’s embassies and consulates in other countries.
Modify Age on a Passport
Before applying for an age change on their passport, applicants must first update their age on their Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) or National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOP). Without this update, they cannot proceed with the passport correction.
After updating their CNIC or NICOP, they need to visit the nearest passport office with the revised documents. At the passport office, they must submit an application to correct their date of birth.
The authorities will verify the documents, and if there is any doubt, they may ask for additional proof. This could include a birth certificate or an educational certificate (such as a matriculation record) to confirm the applicant’s actual date of birth.
Fees for Age Modification on a Passport
Once the CNIC/NICOP update is complete, applicants must apply for a new passport. Pakistani passports are available with two validity options: five years or ten years. The fees for a five-year passport are as follows:
- Normal (36 pages): Rs. 4,500
- Urgent (36 pages): Rs. 7,500
- Normal (72 pages): Rs. 8,200
- Urgent (72 pages): Rs. 13,500
- Normal (100 pages): Rs. 9,000
- Urgent (100 pages): Rs. 18,000
To improve passport services, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has opened a new passport office at the NADRA Mega Centre in Nazimabad. This office will remain open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It will operate in three shifts, making it easier for people to apply for passports at any time.
During his visit, Minister Naqvi checked the passport counters and talked to the staff to make sure everything was running smoothly. He also spoke with citizens using the passport and ID card services, asking about their experiences to understand any difficulties they faced.
In addition, he addressed the problems faced by women visiting the center for biometric verification under the Benazir Income Support Program. He emphasized the need to make services more accessible and improve the experience for all visitors.
