The Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) has officially declared public holidays for Eid-ul-Fitr, which will be observed from March 31 to April 2, 2025. This announcement was made through an official notification, aligning with the federal government’s directive regarding holidays for the religious festival.
Despite the general holiday, the PAA has clarified that officers and employees assigned to shift-based duties will continue to perform their responsibilities as per their designated schedules. Airports operate round the clock, and essential services such as air traffic control, security, and passenger assistance must remain uninterrupted to ensure smooth travel operations during the festive period.
In a separate announcement, the PAA has also decided to release the salaries and pensions for March earlier than usual. Employees and retirees will receive their payments in advance on March 24 to help them prepare for Eid celebrations. This move is aimed at providing financial relief ahead of the holiday, enabling staff and pensioners to manage their expenses, shopping, and travel plans more conveniently.
Eid-ul-Fitr marks the end of Ramadan, the Islamic month of fasting, and is celebrated with great enthusiasm across Pakistan. The official date for Eid in 2025 depends on the sighting of the Shawwal moon, which is expected to be observed on the evening of March 30 after 29 days of Ramadan. However, if the moon is not sighted, Eid will fall on April 1. Religious authorities and moon-sighting committees will confirm the date based on lunar observations.
This announcement from the PAA comes as part of nationwide preparations for Eid-ul-Fitr, ensuring that employees receive their due benefits while keeping essential airport operations functional for travelers during the festive season.
