In a major step to build stronger academic ties, Pakistan has announced 100 fully-funded scholarships for students from Bangladesh. These scholarships will allow Bangladeshi students to study in some of Pakistan’s top universities, with all expenses covered.

This exciting announcement was made during the Special Vice Chancellors’ Forum for Bangladesh, which was held at the OIC-COMSTECH Secretariat. The event was hosted by COMSTECH (the Ministerial Standing Committee on Scientific and Technological Cooperation of the OIC), which works to promote science and education among Islamic countries.

High-Level Delegation from Bangladesh Attended

The forum was attended by a seven-member delegation from Bangladesh. This included Vice Chancellors and senior officials from some of the country’s most respected universities. On the Pakistani side, Vice Chancellors from 15 top universities, all part of the COMSTECH Consortium of Excellence (CCoE), were present.

Focus on Strengthening Academic & Scientific Cooperation

Prof. Dr. M. Iqbal Choudhary, Coordinator General of COMSTECH, warmly welcomed the Bangladeshi guests. He said their visit was an important step toward building stronger academic and scientific cooperation between the two nations. He officially announced the 100 scholarships for Bangladeshi students, calling it a gesture of academic friendship and partnership.

Support from Bangladesh’s High Commissioner

Md. Iqbal Hussain Khan, the High Commissioner of Bangladesh to Pakistan, also attended the event. He thanked COMSTECH for creating such opportunities. He stressed the need for closer partnerships in education, science, and technology, which are crucial for the progress of both countries.

Plans for Future Collaboration

During the forum, interactive sessions were held where Vice Chancellors from both countries shared ideas and discussed future collaboration. They talked about:

  • Student and faculty exchange programs
  • Joint research projects
  • Scholarship opportunities
  • Sharing academic resources and facilities

It was also agreed that each university will appoint a focal person who will help keep the communication open and ensure all the plans are followed up properly.

Key Presentations and Discussions

Several important presentations took place at the forum. One of the highlights was a session by Prof. Dr. Shoab A. Khan, Chancellor of Sir Syed CASE Institute of Technology. He gave a talk on the development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Pakistan. He also spoke in his role as Chairperson of the Private Education Institutions Regulatory Authority, sharing ideas on how to improve university rankings and education quality.

A Historic Visit to Strengthen Ties

The Bangladeshi academic team visited Pakistan from June 16 to June 21. During their trip, they held meetings with various top universities in Islamabad, Lahore, and Murree. These meetings helped build better understanding and opened the door for more joint programs in the future.

The delegation praised the hospitality and warm welcome they received in Pakistan. They described their visit as historic, meaningful, and productive, and said it marked the beginning of a long-term educational partnership between Bangladesh and Pakistan.
