The third phase of the privatization drive is set to commence after Eid ul Fitr, focusing on transferring public schools with fewer than 100 students to private sector management. This decision is part of a broader effort to optimize educational resources and improve efficiency in the schooling system.
To facilitate this process, the Ministry of Education has instructed District Education Officers and the Heads of District Education Authorities across all 43 districts of the province to compile and submit a detailed list of schools that meet this criterion. Reports suggest that a significant number of these schools are located in remote rural areas, where student enrollment remains critically low. However, some urban primary schools in towns with similarly low student numbers are also expected to be included in the list.
Once Eid ul Fitr concludes, the identified schools will be made available for privatization, allowing private organizations to take over their administration. The government believes that this initiative will not only help streamline the public education sector but also reduce the financial burden associated with maintaining underutilized institutions. By shifting these schools to private management, authorities aim to enhance the quality of education while ensuring that resources are allocated more effectively.
