Sharjah Police on Thursday introduced a radar that can catch motorists who drive on lanes dedicated for buses and taxis. A fine of Dh400 will be levied on violators. Major-General Saif Al Zari Al Shamsi, Commander-in-Chief of the Sharjah Police, said the new radar was put up to ensure that buses going to Dubai will be able to use the special lanes thus making vehicle movement smoother.
In a video posted on the Sharjah Police’s Twitter account, Maj-Gen Al Shamsi urged all motorists to stay on the proper lanes at all times.
Lt-Col Khalid Al Kai, deputy director of traffic and patrol department of the Sharjah Police, said they have prepared a plan to cover all bus lanes across the emirate.
He explained that installing the radars would effectively reduce the traffic congestion.
