The interior ministry on Monday announced a nationwide public holiday on 12th Rabi ul Awwal. As per the reports, a notification has been issued by the interior ministry in this regard according to which, all federal government institutions will remain closed on Friday, 30th October 2020.
“It is notified for general information that Friday 30th October 2020 shall be a public holiday on the occasion of Eid Milad-un-Nabi (12th Rabi-ul-Awwal 1442 AH) throughout the country,” read the notice.
Eid Milad un Nabi is a public holiday on 30th October 2020. It is a day off for the general population, and schools and most businesses are closed. In 2020 it falls on a Friday. Due to this, some businesses may choose to follow Sunday opening hours.
Many people additionally donate to charity. Food and sweets are distributed among the poor and the needy. Moreover, contributions are made to support orphanages, asylums for the physically and mentally challenged, and widows.
Special prayers are offered at mosques. Religious leaders and pupils preach the Prophet Muhammed’s teachings. Stories and incidents from his lifestyles of morals, which includes forgiveness, kindheartedness, bravery, know-how, honesty, and peace lovingness, are quoted.
