Vasanth Kumar Ravi is a well known South Indian actor. He was born on 18th April, 1990 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. In 2015, he made his debut but he already is a superstar to his fans. He came into the limelight in 2017 with his debut film Taramani. He played the lead role and won an award at 10th Vijay Awards for Best Debut Actor. He also won the best debutant at the 65th South Filmfare Award.
Ravi’s first performance made him a much-loved personality in South India. His good looks and acting talent became the reason for his instant success. As a student, he took up the medical field and enrolled for an MBBS degree in Ramachandra Medical College, Chennai. He aspired to be an actor, but his family was against the idea.
Vasanth Ravi friends in College encouraged him to give a shot in acting. But it became difficult for him while doing MBBS. After his graduation, Ravi became a part-time doctor in Manchester, London. However, he soon left the job in 2011 and applied for an audition in Mumbai’s acting school. He got rejected and started working on his acting under Rajiv Menon.
Sideways Ravi became an operations manager in a city hospital in Chennai and handled both the jobs simultaneously. He kept in touch with director Ram; Ram had directed movies such as Thanga Meengal and Kattradhu Thamizh. In 2013, after an audition, he got an opportunity to act in Ram’s directorial Taramani. The film faced delays but eventually got released in 2017. It became Ravi’s breakthrough in the South Indian Film Industry. His Second Movie is named as Rocky.
Taramani also featured Andrea Jeremiah and ; the movie gained positive reviews and got lauded by the audience. Ravi won an award at 10th Vijay Awards in the Best Debut Actor Category for the film. He also won the best debutant at the 65th South Filmfare. He received much love from the audience, and Ravi became an overnight sensation in Tamil Nadu.
The year proved to be a blessing in disguise for the young actor and now his demand in high in South India. A four-year struggle for the doctor turned actor paid off with Taramani. Ravi is now being approached by some directors for other movies as well. He is the future of Tamil Cinema.
