Shahzad Nawaz is a handsome and versatile Pakistani filmmaker, producer, director, actor, and graphic designer. He was born on 1st January 1980 in Karachi, Pakistan. Shahzad Nawaz is known for his impactful work across film, television, and music. He rose to prominence with the political thriller Chambaili (2013), which he co-wrote and directed. The film was a landmark in Pakistani cinema, inspiring political discourse and youth engagement. He also appeared in the Norwegian documentary Med egne ord – en film om tvangsekteskap (2010), addressing the sensitive issue of forced marriages.
Shahzad Nawaz has played pivotal roles in several critically acclaimed television dramas. His performance in Parizaad (2021) as Behroze Karim showcased his depth as a character actor. He continued his impactful streak with performances in Badshah Begum (2022), Mein (2023), and Raaz (2024), where he was praised for portraying complex, powerful figures with nuance. In 2024, he also featured in the romantic drama Let’s Try Mohabbat, displaying his versatility as an actor. His recent role in Ghulam Bashah Sundri (2025) marks another milestone in his career, contributing to a historical narrative rooted in Sindhi heritage.
Apart from acting and directing, Nawaz has contributed to Coke Studio (2008) as a creative force, reflecting his deep connection to Pakistani culture, music, and storytelling. In 2003 and 2005 he directed and acted in two films Daira and Botal Gali, based on an adaptations of Mohsin Hamid book Moth Smoke, and acted in Geo’s drama series Ana (2004).

Nawaz was noted in the film Chambaili which he wrote and produced. It was the first political film of the country, earning him critical appraisal and a nomination ARY Film Award for Best Film as a producer. In 2016, he marked his Coke Studio debut as a featured artist in season 9.
Shahzad Nawaz was responsible for launching Pakistan’s first private TV channel and has held various senior executive roles in the private sector such as Group CEO for Neo News & Nai Baat Media Network, Chairman of United Producers Association (UPA), Group COO & Adviser to CEO of AAP Media Network and Adviser to CEO of Geo Television Network.
