Ranjit Kapoor is an notable Indian writer, director and actor. He was born on 1st January 1960 in Mumbai, India. Ranjit is best known for his Hum To Mohabbat Karega (2000), Lajja (2001) and The Legend of Bhagat Singh (2002). Apart, Ranjit also will be a writer of the new upcoming Indian movie Bad Boy (2023). In the year 1983, Ranjit Kapoor began his career with NFDC’s production movie ‘Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro.’ Satish Shah co-operated with Ranjit Kapoor and the dialogues suited the movie in every frame. It was a comedy movie and directed by Kundan Shah.
Ranjit Kapoor next assignment as a dialogue writer was for a Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s movie ‘Khamosh’ that starred Shabana Azmi and Amol Palekar. The film received a serious setback as no distributors wanted to buy it for an unconventional plot. After a sabbatical from the film industry for about 10 years, Ranjit Kapoor returned once again for a Kundan Shah’s comedy project ‘Kabhi Haa Kabhi Naa’ (1994), the film introduced Shah Rukh Khan in his best role and the film won for King Khan best critics’ award. In the same year, Ranjit Kapoor handled the boldest film of the year which was directed by Shekhar Kapur.
The film starred Rishi Kapoor in a central role. The story was written by him too and it was a political satire movie released in 2009. In 2015, he wrote and directed ‘Jai Ho! Democracy’ which was a political satire film showing the dark side of the system. The film had all veteran actors like Om Puri, Satish Kaushik, Seema Biswas, and Annu Kapoor in lead roles.
