Neelesh Misra is an popular Indian writer, scriptwriter, journalist, author, radio storyteller & lyricist. He was born on 4th May 1973 in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India. As a writer Neelesh known for Bodyguard (2011), Barfi! (2012), Once There Was a Tiger (2012) and also Neelesh Misra will be write in the upcoming film Tiger 3 (2023). Neelesh started his career in journalism. Being a journalist he covered the insurgency and conflict in all over the South Asia; he is doing this since 20 years. He has studied the areas which are dominated by Naxalite in India as well as has covered the Maoist insurgency taking place in Nepal. In 2005, Neelesh got married to Nidhi Razdan, who is a news anchor and editor. They divorced after few years. He then married to Yamini Misra. He has a daughter named Vaidehi.
As Neelesh Misra researched for his book in Mumbai, Neelesh met the filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt, who led him on his journey into Bollywood. He wrote his first song, titled, ‘Jaadu Hai Nasha Hai’ for the film ‘Jism’ (2003); which became a hit song. From then he has written the lyrics for more than 20 films. In the year 2012, he wrote the screenplay for the film ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ with the director Kabir Khan. ‘Band Called Nine’, the first ever writer-led band of India where Neelesh was creative director, singer and lyricist along with the singer Shilpa Rao. The band launched at Kala Ghoda Arts Festival held in 2010 in Mumbai. ‘Rewind’ the first album of the band released in 2011. Neelesh is a radio presenter too. His show, named, ‘Yadoon ka Idiotbox’ is famous on the radio channel BIG FM 92.7. He started the rural newspaper, ‘Gaon Connection’, in the village Kunaura near Lucknow with Karan Dalal.
