Nag Ashwin is an Indian film director and screenwriter. He was born on April 23, 1986, in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, India. In 2015, he debuted as a director with the philosophical drama movie Yevade Subramanyam.
Nag Ashwin directed the biographical film Mahanati in 2018 with Keerthy Suresh playing yesteryear actress Savitri. The film also won the Best Feature Film award at the 66th National Film Awards 2019. The 66th Filmfare Awards South recognized Nag Ashwin as the Best Director – Telugu.
It was screened in the Indian Panorama Mainstream section at the 49th International Film Festival of India and received the “Equality in Cinema Award” at the 2018 Indian Film Festival of Melbourne.
Nag Ashwin began his film career as an assistant director for Nenu Meeku Telusa…?. After that, he worked as an assistant director for Leader and Life Is Beautiful with Sekhar Kammula.
In Ashwin’s third film, Amitabh Bachchan, Prabhas, and Deepika Padukone will appear together for the first time. Production and presentation will be handled by Vyjayanthi Movies and Swapna Cinema, respectively.
Nag Ashwin’s father is Jayaram and his mother is Jayanthi Reddy. Both are doctors, and he has a sister named Nikhila Reddy. Ashwin married Priyanka Dutt in December 2015, the daughter of the producer also the couple has a son.
