Eid ul Azha in Pakistan Expected on Saturday, June 7, 2025

A well-known Pakistani astronomer, Dr. Faheem Hashmi, has shared his prediction about the date of Eid ul Azha in Pakistan. According to him, Eid is most likely to be celebrated on Saturday, June 7, 2025. This prediction is based on current information about the moon’s position and visibility.

Dr. Hashmi explained that the Zul Hijjah moon, which marks the start of the Islamic month of Zul Hijjah, will not be visible in Pakistan on May 27, 2025. The reason is that on that evening, the moon will be only 11 hours old, which is too young to be seen—whether with the naked eye or even with telescopes. Usually, a moon needs to be at least 20 hours old to have a chance of being sighted, especially in clear weather.

However, the situation is different for the following day. On May 28, the moon will be more than 35 hours old, which means it should be easily visible in most parts of Pakistan. When the moon is that mature, it becomes brighter and easier to spot. So, based on this, the first day of Zul Hijjah in Pakistan is expected to fall on May 29.

Since Eid ul Azha is celebrated on the 10th day of Zul Hijjah, that would place Eid in Pakistan on June 7.

Dr. Hashmi also talked about the expected moon sighting in Saudi Arabia, which usually celebrates Islamic holidays a day earlier than Pakistan. He said that on May 27, it might be possible to see the moon there, but only with the help of powerful telescopes. If that happens, Zul Hijjah would start on May 28 in Saudi Arabia. This means the Hajj pilgrimage would be on June 5, and Eid ul Azha would be observed on June 6 in the Kingdom.

In the end, Dr. Faheem Hashmi reminded everyone that even though these predictions are based on accurate scientific data, the final decision about moon sighting and the Eid date will be made by the religious authorities and the meteorological departments. Still, the astronomical evidence strongly supports the idea that Eid ul Azha in Pakistan will most likely fall on Saturday, June 7, 2025.
