The Punjab government launched the CM Punjab Laptop Scheme 2025 a few months ago to provide free laptops to outstanding students. Now, the registration process is officially open.
Under this initiative, the government aims to distribute 110,000 brand-new laptops to deserving students across Punjab. In a significant move towards inclusivity, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz announced that 2,000 laptops will be allocated specifically for minority students. The scheme is open to students from matriculation and intermediate levels, ensuring that young learners have access to the latest technology for academic success.
Which Latest Laptops Will Be Distributed?
As part of the Chief Minister’s Laptop Program, students will receive 13th-generation Core i7 laptops, equipped with high-performance features ideal for research, assignments, and professional use. This initiative is particularly beneficial for students in computer science, engineering, medicine, and other technical fields, enhancing their learning experience.
Additionally, 2,000 laptops will be awarded to top-performing minority students and those who excelled in the Secondary and Higher Secondary School Examinations. The goal is to encourage academic excellence and support research-driven learning.
Breakdown of Laptop Allocation
The distribution plan for the 110,000 laptops is as follows:
- 20,000 laptops for university students
- 14,000 laptops for college students
- 4,000 laptops for students from technical and agricultural colleges
- 2,000 laptops for students enrolled in medical and dental colleges
Moreover, 32% of the laptops will be reserved for students from South Punjab, ensuring fair representation across the province.
Students from various disciplines will benefit from this scheme, including those studying computer science, engineering, medicine, social sciences, business, languages, veterinary medicine, and agriculture.
How to Apply for a Free Laptop?
Eligible students can apply online through the official CM Punjab Laptop Scheme portal at cmlaptophed.punjab.gov.pk. Applicants must fill out an online form and provide their academic details to be considered for the program.
Who is Eligible for the Scheme?
To qualify for a free laptop, students must meet the following eligibility criteria:
- Must have a domicile from any district of Punjab.
- Must be enrolled in the 1st or 2nd semester of a BS program at a public university/college.
- Students from public sector universities and colleges must have a minimum of 65% marks in Intermediate.
- Students from public sector medical and dental colleges must have a minimum of 80% marks in Intermediate.
- Applicants must not have received a laptop from any previous schemes.
CM Punjab Laptop Distribution Timeline
According to official sources, the distribution of laptops is expected to begin after Ramadan 2025, with April or May being the likely months for the rollout.
Earlier, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz confirmed that the first shipment of laptops had already arrived in Pakistan. To ensure a transparent and fair distribution process, the chief minister will host official ceremonies across various cities as part of the Honhaar Scholarship Program, where laptops will be handed over to the selected students.
This initiative underscores the Punjab government’s commitment to supporting education and empowering students with digital resources to excel in their academic and professional journeys.
