According to a report by Saudi Gazette, the registration process will begin on March 5, 2025, allowing worshippers to apply for this significant spiritual retreat.
How to Apply for Itikaf Through the Official Website
Starting from Wednesday, March 5, the Saudi authorities will accept Itikaf registrations through their official online platform. The registration will remain open until all available slots at the two sacred mosques are filled. Prospective participants are advised to register early to secure their place, as demand for Itikaf is traditionally high.
As per the official announcement, the registration portal will open at 11:00 AM (local time), and permits will be issued through the authority’s digital platform. Applicants must fulfill specific conditions and criteria set by the authorities before being granted permission.
For 2025, Itikaf at Masjid al-Haram (Makkah) and Masjid an-Nabawi (Madinah) will begin on Ramadan 20 (March 20, 2025) and will continue until the end of the holy month. This sacred tradition is highly regarded among worshippers who seek spiritual purification during Ramadan.
What is Itikaf?
Itikaf is an Islamic practice observed during the last ten days of Ramadan, where Muslims isolate themselves inside a mosque for continuous worship, prayer, and reflection. It is considered a deeply spiritual experience that allows individuals to disconnect from worldly affairs and focus entirely on their relationship with Allah (SWT).
Pilgrims and worshippers intending to observe Itikaf at the Two Holy Mosques are encouraged to complete their registrations promptly, ensuring compliance with all required guidelines.
