DUBAI – On Monday, VFS Global, a company that helps people apply for visas, announced the opening of the world’s largest visa application center in the Middle East. This new center is located in Dubai’s Wafi City and is said to be the biggest facility of its kind anywhere in the world.
The new Visa Application Centre covers a huge area of 150,000 square feet — that’s about the size of two and a half football fields. This massive space allows the center to handle a large number of visa applications, up to 10,000 per day. This means that many people can visit the center daily to submit their visa documents, get their fingerprints taken, and complete other important steps needed to travel to different countries.
To make sure everything runs smoothly, the center will employ over 400 visa experts. These workers come from more than 25 different countries, so they can speak many languages like English, Arabic, Hindi, French, and others. This multilingual service helps visitors from different parts of the world feel comfortable and understand the process clearly.
The center is equipped with the latest technology to speed up visa processing and ensure security. For example, there are special machines for scanning passports, capturing biometric data like fingerprints and photos, and automated systems that help organize applications quickly. These tools reduce waiting times and make the experience easier for applicants.
Helal Saeed Almarri, the Director-General of Dubai’s Department of Economy and Tourism, said the opening of this center is a very important step for Dubai’s future. He explained that offering faster and better visa services helps bring skilled workers, tourists, and businesspeople from all over the world. This supports Dubai’s goal to become a global city where people and businesses connect easily.
He said, “Visa facilitation plays a key role in attracting talented individuals, increasing the number of tourists, and encouraging partnerships between countries. These things help Dubai become the most connected and advanced city on the planet.”
Almarri also pointed out that this center is more than just a big building or an operational upgrade. It shows Dubai’s strong commitment to improving how people move across borders. Making travel easier means more people can explore new opportunities, whether in tourism, education, or business. This will help Dubai’s economy grow faster, especially in sectors like tourism and international trade.
VFS Global, the company behind this project, shared some interesting numbers about their work worldwide. Since it was founded in 2001, VFS Global has processed over 311 million visa applications. Today, it operates 3,616 visa application centers in 158 countries, helping millions of people every year apply for visas to travel to places like Europe, North America, Australia, and the Middle East.
The company works closely with governments and embassies to ensure all visa rules are followed and applicants’ personal information is protected. The new Dubai center is expected to set new standards for visa service by combining size, technology, and quality customer care, making the visa process faster, safer, and easier for everyone.
