In a significant development for the diplomatic and bilateral relations between Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the Emirati government has reportedly resolved previous visa-related challenges faced by Pakistani citizens. According to a report by Geo News, the UAE is now allowing Pakistani nationals to apply for five-year visas, marking a notable shift in its visa policy and signaling stronger people-to-people ties between the two nations.
This major announcement came during a high-level meeting held at the Governor House in Karachi. The meeting was attended by Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tessori and UAE Ambassador to Pakistan, Hamad Obaid Al Zaabi. Also present was UAE Consul General in Karachi, Bakheet Ateeq Al Remeithi, highlighting the importance of the occasion and the growing emphasis on bilateral cooperation.
During the discussion, Governor Tessori expressed his appreciation for the UAE’s consistent and meaningful investments in the Sindh province, particularly in Karachi. He noted that the UAE’s ongoing involvement in various development projects reflects not only mutual trust but also the deepening of economic and diplomatic relations between the two brotherly countries.
Ambassador Al Zaabi, in turn, invited Governor Tessori to visit the UAE’s newly established visa centre in Karachi. This centre is designed to facilitate a smoother and more efficient visa application process for Pakistani citizens, reducing delays and ensuring better service delivery. The move is expected to benefit thousands of individuals seeking travel and business opportunities in the UAE.
The ambassador also commended the Governor’s Initiative—a developmental program launched by Governor Tessori—describing it as a positive step toward regional progress. He assured the governor of the UAE’s full cooperation and support in pursuing joint initiatives that aim to enhance trade, investment, and cultural exchange between Pakistan and the UAE.
As part of his visit to the Governor House, Ambassador Al Zaabi also participated in a tree plantation drive, demonstrating a shared commitment to environmental sustainability and green development. He later took part in the national flag-hoisting ceremony, symbolizing unity and the strengthening of ties between the two nations.
Before concluding his visit, Ambassador Al Zaabi wrote his reflections in the official guest book at the Governor House. He described the visit as a memorable and symbolic representation of the enduring friendship and growing partnership between Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates. His remarks reaffirmed the mutual respect and shared aspirations that continue to guide relations between the two countries.
