UAE Announces Temporary Ban on Tourist and Work Visas for 9 Countries

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has recently placed a restriction on visa applications from several African and Asian countries. According to reports, citizens from nine nations will not be able to apply for either tourist visas or work permits for the time being.

The countries affected by this decision include Uganda, Sudan, Somalia, Cameroon, Libya, Afghanistan, Yemen, Lebanon, and Bangladesh. This means that people from these nations will not be able to enter the UAE for work opportunities or for tourism until further notice.

As per an immigration circular, the suspension covers all new applications. This applies to both short-term tourist visits and long-term work-related permits. No fresh visas from the listed countries are currently being processed, and the restriction will remain in place until the UAE government decides otherwise.

So far, UAE officials have not issued a clear public explanation for this step. However, several media outlets and analysts suggest that the decision could be linked to security concerns, regional instability, or diplomatic tensions. Some experts also believe the move may be temporary, depending on future political or security developments.

It is important to note that this is not the first time the UAE has taken such action. In the past, the country temporarily banned visa applications from Nigeria, citing various concerns. However, official statements regarding the reasons behind these bans have usually been limited or vague.

For now, the affected citizens will need to wait for further updates from the UAE authorities. Travelers and workers from these countries are advised to stay in touch with official announcements through UAE embassies or consulates in their respective nations.
