Step-by-Step: Free PTA Mobile Registration for Overseas Pakistanis Explained

PTA Launches Free Mobile Registration for Overseas Pakistanis Visiting Pakistan

Overseas Pakistanis can now register their mobile phones without paying any tax during their stay in Pakistan. This facility is available for 120 days per visit under the official policy of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).

To make this process easy and smooth, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) is offering this service through its free and automated Temporary Mobile Registration System. You can access this system through the DIRBS (Device Identification Registration and Blocking System) portal.

This initiative is specially designed to help overseas Pakistanis stay connected without any extra cost while they are visiting. It also shows PTA’s strong commitment to supporting digital access for everyone, even those who are visiting for a short period.

How to Register Your Mobile Phone (Step-by-Step Guide)

If you’re an overseas Pakistani and want to use your mobile phone in Pakistan without paying FBR taxes, just follow these simple steps:

  1. Visit the DIRBS Portal:
    • Go to the official DIRBS website https://dirbs.pta.gov.pk.
    • Sign up if you’re using the portal for the first time, or log in if you already have an account.
  2. Choose the Correct Category:
    • After logging in, choose your correct status:
      • If you’re a Pakistani who has traveled abroad and is returning on a visa, choose “Individual – Pak (Travelled on Visa)”.
      • If you’re a foreign national, choose “Individual – Foreigner”.
  3. Fill in Your Travel and Contact Details:
    • Enter the following:
      • Passport number
      • Arrival date in Pakistan (from your entry stamp)
      • Mobile phone number
      • Email address
  4. Apply for Temporary Registration:
    • Click on the option that says “Apply for COC (Certificate of Compliance)”.
    • Then select “Temporary Registration for Overseas Pakistani”.
  5. Provide Your Mobile Phone’s IMEI Number:
    • To find the IMEI number, dial *#06# on your phone.
    • You can also find it on the original box of the phone.
  6. Upload Documents and Submit:
    • Upload any required documents (if asked).
    • Submit your application.
  7. Enjoy 120 Days of Free Use:
    • If your request is accepted, your phone will be registered free of cost for up to 120 days.
    • You can use your mobile network in Pakistan during this period without paying any tax.

Important Tips:

  • This registration is valid for one device only per visit.
  • If you plan to stay longer than 120 days, you will need to pay the required FBR tax to keep using your mobile.
  • You must register your device within 60 days of arrival in Pakistan.
  • The service is only for personal use, not for selling or commercial purposes.

This is a great step by the government to support overseas Pakistanis and help them stay connected with their families and friends while visiting home. Take advantage of this free service and register your mobile phone easily through the DIRBS portal!

If you want help with the registration process, you can also visit a nearby PTA customer support center or contact their helpline for guidance.
