State Bank of Pakistan to Remain Closed for 4 Days on Eid-ul-Azha 2025

The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has officially announced that it will remain closed for four days to observe the Eid-ul-Azha holidays. According to a notification issued on Tuesday, the bank will not be open from Friday, June 6, 2025, to Monday, June 9, 2025. These dates are being observed as public holidays across the country for the celebration of Eid-ul-Azha, a major Islamic festival.

This closure applies to all departments of the State Bank of Pakistan. During these four days, no regular banking services will be available through the central bank.

Commercial banks across Pakistan will also follow the same holiday schedule. Like the SBP, they will remain closed from June 6 to June 9. Customers are advised to complete any urgent banking transactions before the holiday period begins, as services such as cash deposits, withdrawals, and cheque clearances will be unavailable during this time.

In addition to the banks, the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) has also announced a four-day closure for Eid-ul-Azha. A notice issued by the PSX on Monday informed all TRE Certificate Holders, staff members, and other concerned parties that trading activities at the stock exchange will be suspended from Friday, June 6, 2025, to Monday, June 9, 2025.

The PSX also stated that business will resume as usual on Tuesday, June 10, 2025. Investors are encouraged to plan their trading activities accordingly to avoid any inconvenience during the holiday break.

Eid-ul-Azha, also known as the “Festival of Sacrifice,” is an important religious holiday celebrated by Muslims around the world. In Pakistan, the government declares public holidays so that people can celebrate the occasion with their families, offer Eid prayers, and perform the traditional Qurbani (sacrifice of animals).

As the holidays approach, people are expected to travel to their hometowns, visit relatives, and participate in various religious and cultural activities. Due to this, several government and private institutions, including banks and the stock exchange, shut down operations to allow employees to celebrate the festival.
