Sinalo Jafta is a South African cricketer who plays for the South African women's cricket team. She was born on 22 December 1994 in East London, South Africa. She is known for her wicketkeeping and right-handed batting skills. She has played across all formats of cricket for South Africa.
Sinalo Jafta Career
Sinalo Jafta started her cricket journey with the Border women's cricket team in 2010, where she played until 2012. In 2012, she switched to the North West women's cricket team, also known as the North West Dragons, participating in the 2012-13 CSA Women's One-Day Cup and the CSA Women's T20 Challenge. Then, in the 2014-15 season, she returned to the Border women's cricket team for the same tournaments.
She once again played for the North West Dragons in the CSA Women's One-Day Cup and the CSA Women's T20 Challenge in 2018-19. The following season, she joined the Western Province women's cricket team for the 2019-20 and 2022-23 CSA Women's One-Day Cup and the CSA Women's T20 Challenge. Currently, she represents the central Gauteng women's cricket team.
Sinalo Jafta made her Women's One Day International cricket (WODI) debut against New Zealand on October 22, 2016. In April 2019, she earned a spot in South Africa's Women's Twenty20 International (WT20I) squad for their series against Pakistan and subsequently made her WT20I debut against Pakistan on May 15, 2019.
She was named in the Devnarain XI squad for the inaugural Women's T20 Super League in South Africa in September 2019. Recognizing her talent, Cricket South Africa awarded her a national contract in March 2020, paving the way for her involvement in the 2020–21 season. On July 23, 2020, Jafta was included in South Africa's 24-woman squad to commence training in Pretoria, preparing for their tour to England.
She took on the role of captain in April 2021 when she was appointed to lead the South African Emerging Women's Squad during their tour of Bangladesh. The recognition of her skills and dedication to the sport led to her selection in South Africa's team for the 2022 Women's Cricket World Cup in New Zealand in February 2022. Jafta was named in South Africa's Women's Test squad for their one-off match against England Women and made her Test debut on June 27, 2022.
Sinalo Jafta was named to South Africa's team for the cricket tournament at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England in July 2022.
