He plays for the Australian national cricket team in One Day International and Twenty20 International formats. He has also played Test cricket for Australia. Maxwell is known as an all-rounder because he can both bat and bowl. He bats with his right hand and bowls off-break.
In domestic cricket in Australia, he represents Victoria and plays for the Melbourne Stars. He was a part of the Australian team that won the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 and the ICC T20 World Cup 2021, where he hit the winning runs that helped Australia win its first T20 world title.
When Maxwell was a young cricketer, he played for South Belgrave Cricket Club. At first, he was a fast bowler, but later on, he changed his bowling style to become an off-spin bowler. Despite that, he's really good at making accurate throws that can result in getting players out.
His teammates and the media, like to call him "The Big Show" because he's very confident and likes to play fancy shots, especially different types of sweep shots. But he actually prefers the nickname "Maxi."
