The Sindh government has declared a public holiday for all public and private educational institutions on Shab-e-Qadr, as stated in an official notification from the School Education & Literacy Department.
The notification, issued on Wednesday, confirms that all schools across the province will remain closed on Friday, March 28 (27th Ramadan) to honor the sacred night. This decision was officially approved during a sub-committee meeting of the Steering Committee on Education held on November 28, 2024.
Meanwhile, preparations for Eid ul Fitr are in full swing, with the festival expected to begin on Monday, March 31.
According to the Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (Suparco), the Shawwal moon is likely to appear on March 29, with its sighting expected on March 30. As a result, Eid ul Fitr is anticipated to fall on March 31.
Additionally, the federal government has announced official holidays for Eid ul Fitr, granting citizens a three-day break.
As per a notification from the Cabinet Division, the public holidays will be observed from Monday, March 31, to Wednesday, April 2.
