The Sindh government has announced an early disbursement of salaries, pensions, and allowances for all government employees and pensioners in the province, ensuring financial ease ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr. This decision aims to help workers manage their holiday expenses and make necessary preparations without financial strain.
According to an official notification, the payments for March will be released on March 21, significantly earlier than the usual date of April 1. The Sindh Finance Department, under the directives of Finance Secretary Fayyaz Jatoi, has instructed all relevant authorities to ensure a smooth and timely disbursement process. This move reflects the government’s commitment to facilitating its employees during the festive season.
Meanwhile, Eid-ul-Fitr in Pakistan is expected to be observed on Monday, March 31, 2025, as per predictions by the Ruet-e-Hilal Research Council. Khalid Ijaz Mufti, the council’s Secretary General, stated that the Shawwal moon is likely to be sighted on the evening of Sunday, March 30, provided that weather conditions remain favorable.
Astronomical calculations indicate that the new moon will be born on March 29 at 3:58 PM Pakistan time. By sunset on March 30, the moon will be over 26 hours old, making it relatively easy to spot. Mufti further explained that for a new moon to be visible to the naked eye, it must be at least 18 hours old and have a sunset-to-moonset gap of at least 40 minutes. These conditions will be met in several regions across the country, increasing the likelihood of an official moon sighting announcement on March 30.
Eid-ul-Fitr, marking the end of Ramadan, is one of the most significant Islamic festivals, and early salary payments will help government employees prepare for celebrations, shopping, and travel. The Sindh government’s proactive approach ensures that employees and pensioners can fully enjoy the festivities without financial difficulties.
