The Sindh government has officially declared March 22 as a public holiday for all educational institutions across the province in observance of Youm-e-Ali, which marks the martyrdom of Hazrat Ali (RA). This decision ensures that schools and colleges, both government-run and private, remain closed on this significant occasion.
An official notification issued by the Sindh Education Department confirms that the holiday applies to all educational institutions under the provincial government’s jurisdiction. This measure allows students and staff to participate in the religious observance without any academic obligations.
Youm-e-Ali is an annual day of remembrance honoring the life, leadership, and sacrifices of Hazrat Ali (RA), the fourth caliph of Islam and a revered figure in Islamic history. The day is marked with special prayers, religious processions, and gatherings held across the country. Devotees come together to reflect on his teachings and contributions to Islam. In major cities, including Karachi and Hyderabad, large processions take place, and authorities implement strict security measures to ensure a peaceful and orderly observance.
The Sindh government has historically granted public holidays for significant religious occasions, recognizing their cultural and spiritual importance. This year’s decision aligns with past practices, reinforcing the province’s commitment to upholding religious traditions.
