Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has announced an ambitious scholarship initiative aimed at transforming the educational landscape of the province. This program will benefit 30,000 students from 30 universities across Sindh, providing them with opportunities to develop essential digital skills and enhance their career prospects in the modern job market.
Launched in collaboration with Google and Teach Valley, this initiative is designed to equip students with industry-relevant knowledge through Google Career Certificate courses. These courses, which are available online, cover key areas such as IT support, data analytics, project management, and digital marketing. The duration of each course ranges between three to six months, allowing students to complete their training flexibly and at their own pace.
Speaking at the official launch event, Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah reiterated the government’s dedication to fostering a technologically proficient youth. He emphasized that digital education is the key to economic growth and social development, adding that this program will play a pivotal role in preparing students for the evolving demands of the global workforce.
“Our objective is to ensure that students in Sindh have access to world-class training and resources that can help them secure better job opportunities. By partnering with Google and Teach Valley, we are enabling young learners to gain internationally recognized certifications that will significantly enhance their employability,” he stated.
To promote inclusivity, the scholarship program has been designed with a focus on gender balance and economic equity. A total of 30% of the scholarships will be awarded to women to encourage female participation in the digital economy. Additionally, priority will be given to students from underprivileged backgrounds, ensuring that those who need financial assistance the most can benefit from this initiative.
As part of the program, each scholarship recipient will also receive a monthly stipend, which will range from Rs. 70,000 to Rs. 1.6 million, depending on the course and student requirements. This financial support aims to ease the burden on students, allowing them to focus entirely on their education without economic constraints.
Honhaar Scholarship Help Desk Established for Punjab Students
In a separate but equally significant initiative, the Punjab government has introduced a dedicated support system for students availing the Honhaar Scholarship. Under the directives of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, a ‘Honhaar Scholarship Help Desk’ has been established to provide assistance to students regarding their scholarship applications, inquiries, and complaints.
The help desk operates through multiple communication channels, including WhatsApp, landline, and social media platforms, ensuring that students can access support with ease. It functions from 9 AM to 5 PM and is committed to resolving issues efficiently.
For any assistance regarding the Honhaar Scholarship, students can contact the help desk via:
- Helpline: 042-99231903-4
- WhatsApp: 0303-4002777 / 0303-4002999
- Email: [email protected] / [email protected]
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has stressed the importance of allowing students to focus on their education without financial worries. She reaffirmed her commitment to supporting the youth of Punjab, stating, “Every student of Punjab is like my own child. I want to provide them with every possible resource so that they can achieve their dreams without any obstacles.”
Both Sindh and Punjab’s scholarship initiatives underscore the governments’ strong commitment to empowering students through education and digital skills training. By investing in these programs, the provincial governments are not only fostering academic excellence but also paving the way for a brighter future for young learners in Pakistan. These efforts aim to bridge the digital divide and equip students with the necessary tools to compete in today’s fast-evolving global economy.
