One of the primary focuses of the new guidelines is ensuring that teachers maintain a professional appearance that aligns with cultural and ethical standards. Teachers are required to dress in a manner that reflects professionalism, modesty, and respect for local traditions. The code strictly outlines acceptable attire for both male and female teachers to create a dignified atmosphere in schools.
For female teachers, the guidelines emphasize the importance of modest and appropriate clothing. They are advised to avoid heavy makeup, high heels, or excessive jewellery, as these may be considered inappropriate for the classroom environment. Instead, they are encouraged to wear traditional clothing that is comfortable yet professional, ensuring that their appearance aligns with the values and decorum expected within educational institutions.
Male teachers are also expected to adhere to a strict dress code. The guidelines prohibit them from wearing T-shirts and jeans to school, urging them instead to opt for formal or semi-formal attire that upholds the integrity of the teaching profession. This measure aims to instill a sense of discipline and respect among students while reinforcing the role of educators as role models in society.
In addition to dress regulations, the code of conduct explicitly bans the consumption or possession of harmful substances such as gutka, naswar, mawa, cigarettes, or any similar intoxicants within school premises. Beyond appearance and substance restrictions, the department has reinforced ethical teaching practices by warning teachers against using students for personal tasks or errands. Additionally, any form of physical punishment is completely forbidden. The guidelines stress the importance of fair and equal treatment for all students, discouraging favoritism or discrimination based on personal preferences, background, or abilities.
