The Shawwal moon has been sighted in Pakistan, confirming that Eid ul Fitr will be celebrated across the country tomorrow, Monday, as reported by AYR News. This announcement brings joy and excitement to millions of Muslims in Pakistan, marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan with grand celebrations and religious festivities.
The crescent moon was observed in multiple cities, including Islamabad, as well as provincial capitals and other urban and rural areas. Citizens eagerly looked towards the sky, and many were able to witness the moon with the naked eye. The sighting of the Shawwal moon signals the beginning of Eid ul Fitr, one of the most significant religious occasions in Islam.
A meeting of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee was held in Islamabad, presided over by its chairman, Maulana Abdul Khabeer Azad. Religious scholars, officials from the Meteorological Department, and experts from the Ministry of Science and Technology participated in the meeting. The committee thoroughly reviewed testimonies received from different parts of the country regarding moon sightings before making an official announcement. After careful deliberation and verification, the committee confirmed that the moon had been sighted, officially declaring the arrival of Eid.
Chairman Maulana Abdul Khabeer Azad addressed the media following the confirmation and expressed gratitude to Allah for blessing the nation with another Eid celebration. He extended his heartfelt congratulations to the people of Pakistan and urged them to celebrate this special occasion with gratitude, kindness, and unity. He also offered prayers for the peace, prosperity, and development of Pakistan, emphasizing the need for collective efforts to strengthen the nation.
In his speech, Maulana Abdul Khabeer Azad highlighted the crucial role played by the Pakistan Armed Forces in safeguarding the country. He acknowledged their continuous efforts in defending the nation’s borders and ensuring internal security. He urged the people to remember the sacrifices of the martyrs of the armed forces and to include them in their prayers during Eid. Additionally, he encouraged citizens to pray for the continued success of security forces in combating terrorism and maintaining stability in the region.
In a separate development, the Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) had earlier announced that there would be no gas load-shedding in Sindh, including Karachi, during the Eid ul Fitr 2025 holidays. This decision was welcomed by citizens, as uninterrupted gas supply ensures a comfortable and convenient Eid celebration, allowing families to prepare traditional festive meals without disruption. According to the official statement, the gas supply will remain steady from Chand Raat (the night before Eid) until the third day of Eid, providing relief to households and businesses alike.
Meanwhile, security measures have been significantly enhanced in Islamabad to ensure a peaceful and safe Eid celebration for residents and visitors. The Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police has deployed over 3,500 officers and personnel across the city for patrolling and crime prevention duties. This large-scale deployment aims to deter criminal activities and provide a secure environment for citizens as they partake in Eid festivities.
In addition to security personnel, around 500 traffic officers have been assigned to manage traffic flow efficiently, especially for tourists traveling to and from Murree, a popular destination during the holiday season. The increased number of visitors often leads to congestion on major roads, and the deployment of traffic officers will help regulate movement, minimize road accidents, and prevent bottlenecks.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi has announced a comprehensive security plan to ensure the safety and convenience of citizens and tourists during Eid. Among the key measures taken, 18 security checkpoints have been established at strategic entry and exit points of the capital. These checkpoints will facilitate monitoring and regulation of movement, helping to prevent unauthorized or suspicious activities within the city limits.
Furthermore, the police will initiate a strict crackdown against street crime, reckless driving, and aerial firing, which can pose serious threats to public safety. IGP Rizvi has instructed law enforcement officers to take swift action against individuals engaging in unlawful activities that could jeopardize the celebratory spirit of Eid.
To create a family-friendly atmosphere, all major parks in Islamabad, including Lake View and Daman-e-Koh, have been officially designated as family parks for the duration of Eid festivities. This measure is intended to provide a safe and enjoyable recreational environment for families, ensuring that they can celebrate the occasion in a secure and peaceful setting.
As Pakistan prepares to celebrate Eid ul Fitr, citizens are encouraged to follow safety guidelines, respect security measures, and extend kindness to those in need. Eid is not only a time of joy and festivity but also a moment to reflect on the values of compassion, gratitude, and unity. With well-organized security arrangements, uninterrupted gas supply, and a strong sense of community spirit, the country is set to welcome Eid ul Fitr 2025 with enthusiasm and harmony.
