Shahbaz Leghari, the head of a private earthquake forecasting company called Earthquake Quick News & Research Center (EQQN), has given a new warning. He said that earthquakes might happen in the coming week in countries like Turkey, Greece, Myanmar, Afghanistan, and Pakistan.
While talking to the Associated Press of Pakistan (APPC) on Thursday, he shared his latest predictions. He said that Myanmar, Turkey, and Greece could face earthquakes with magnitudes of 5.3, 4.8, and 5.0 in the coming week.
Leghari also warned that both Pakistan and Afghanistan may experience a 5.4 magnitude earthquake. He explained that the tremors could be felt in the northern and southern parts of Pakistan. This means that people in many areas might feel the shaking.
According to Leghari, his team at EQQN uses a special system that can predict earthquakes up to 128 hours before they happen. “So far, all of our past predictions have come true,” he confidently stated.
He gave an example of a recent earthquake that happened in Pakistan on April 12, 2025. Leghari said that EQQN had already warned about that quake in advance. “We announced this during a press conference in Islamabad on April 7, 2025, and there is a video record of that event,” he added.
He asked the public to stay informed by subscribing to the EQQN YouTube channel. The channel shares live updates and early warnings for earthquakes. This can help people stay safe and prepare in time.
“Our main goal is to save lives by giving early warnings about earthquakes. We try to cover a wide area—up to 5,000 kilometers from Pakistan,” said Leghari. He also mentioned that EQQN is the first earthquake forecasting research center in the world. It works independently and is not controlled by the government or any other organization.
