Shadab Khan to Undergo Shoulder Surgery, Ruled Out of Series

Pakistani all-rounder Shadab Khan is set to undergo surgery on his right shoulder in the UK, according to recent reports from local media. The surgery is expected to keep him out of action for around three months, marking a significant setback for both the player and the national cricket team.

The 26-year-old cricketer has been struggling with ongoing pain and discomfort in his shoulder for some time. After a series of medical check-ups and consultations with specialists, doctors have advised that surgery is necessary to properly treat the issue. The injury has been affecting his performance and could worsen if left untreated.

Shadab is expected to travel to the UK soon to have the operation. Although no exact date has been confirmed for the procedure, sources suggest it will happen within the next few weeks.

This injury comes at an unfortunate time, especially as Pakistan is preparing for a three-match T20 international series against Bangladesh, which is scheduled to begin later in July 2025. Shadab last played in the first T20I against Bangladesh on May 28 in Lahore, but due to this injury, he will now miss the entire series.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is planning to announce the squad for the Bangladesh series later this week. While fans shouldn’t expect too many surprises, some sources have hinted that left-arm spinner Sufiyan Muqeem may receive his first international call-up and make his debut during the tour.

A training camp for the national team is set to begin on 7 July at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi. However, it will start without some of the country’s top players, including Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, and Shaheen Shah Afridi. These key players are currently not in the selection pool, and there is still no official word on when they will return to the squad.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has officially confirmed that all three T20I matches will be played at the Shere-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka. Each match is scheduled to start at 5:00 PM (Pakistan Standard Time).

The Pakistan team is expected to land in Dhaka on 16 July, just a few days before the series begins. The T20I series will start on 20 July, followed by the second match on 22 July and the final game on 24 July.

Pakistan and Bangladesh last faced each other in May 2025, during a T20I series held in Pakistan. Pakistan performed strongly in that series and completed a 3-0 clean sweep against the visiting team.

As the national side gets ready for its next challenge, Shadab Khan’s absence will surely be felt. Not only is he a talented leg-spinner, but his experience and leadership on the field also make him an important asset for the team. His recovery and return will be eagerly awaited by fans and the team alike.
