The night of blessing observes every year in the month of the Islamic Date of Shaban 15. Shab e Barat is also called Laylat al-Baraat in Arabic world.

Different countries have different ways of celebrating this day and each has a different name for it. Nisf Shaban is known as Shab e Barat or Shabe Barat in South Asia, especially in Sub-continent, Lailatul Barat in Arabic, Nisfu Syaban (Malam Nisfu Syaban) in Indonesia and Malaysia and Berat Kandili in Turkey.
Shab e Barat is an important night in the Islamic calendar and it is celebrated in the mid of Shaban (on the night in between the 14th and 15th of Shaban). This is the reason why it is called Nisf Shaban. This blessed night starts at sunset on the 14th of Shaban and ends at dawn on the 15th of Shaban.

In a hadith, Harat Ali RA narrated” During the 15 night of Shaban, The Muslim should stand at the (Particular) night with the day fast, It is due to Allah Almighty, who comes in this night on the opening heaven and announces, who wants to be forgiven by me mainly who did sins without any break, is there anyone who finds sustenance, so that I sustain, and those who are in affliction, so that I manifest. This continuation runs till the morning prayer.”
If this is the actual condition of the blessing of God, how can one keep him or herself away from such blessings? This Ahadith shows that Our Almighty God wants to shower his prizes over us, but we often become the victim of insincerity.
In another hadith, the prophet SAW said that, in the 15th night of Shaban, all the Muslims would be forgiven by God almighty, but the mushrik and the spiteful will never be the one who would have been overlooked.
To error is human, to forgive is divine. As a human, We make thousands of mistakes; even some mistakes are made deliberately. But, our mighty God wants to forgive us. Shab-e-Barat is one of the opportunities that God almighty provides.
Shab e Barat 2021 Wazaif And Nawafil
Shab e Barat is believed to be a night when Allah declares fortune and forgiveness for anyone in a quest. People from around the Muslim world perform Nawafil (special/optional prayers) and ask forgiveness for themselves as well as their ancestors. People pray namaz, nawafil, and wazaif in their homes and mosques and pray out for desires, forgiveness, worldly and after-worldly fortunes.
Shab e Barat is a night which many Muslims revere as the night of forgiveness, praying the whole night asking Allah to bestow them with His blessings. Hadith reported by Aishah (R.A.) stated that the Prophet (S.A.W.) spent the night of 14th and 15th Shaban in extensive prayer to the extent that she thought he had died. (Al-Bayhaqi & Al-Tabarani).
Celebration of Shab-e-Barat 2021
Different countries have different ways of celebrating this night. People often tend to distribute sweets to each other on this night. Some people even celebrate the night with fireworks although this is a result of the influence of the local traditions and does not have any religious significance and even some scholars called this Bidah.
In Iraq, people often distribute sweets to children. In South Asian countries, people usually distribute a local dessert known as “Halwa” or other delicacies to neighbors, family, friends, and the poor and needy.
Middle Eastern countries normally do not celebrate the night. So, you may spend this night by doing good deeds such as making Duas for yourself and for all the Muslims around the world, reciting Al-Quran and any other act to get Allah’s attention and blessings as these deeds are Sunnah of Prophet (S.A.W.) according to the Hadiths mentioned above. But note one thing that any act of worship during this night is not obligatory.
