The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has officially announced a three-day holiday for the banking and financial sectors on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr. According to a circular issued by the Banking Policy and Regulations Department of the central bank, the SBP will remain closed from Monday, March 31, to Wednesday, April 2, 2025.
As a result, all commercial banks, Microfinance Banks (MFBs), Digital Banks (DBs), and Development Finance Institutions (DFIs) operating across the country will observe Eid holidays on these dates. During this period, regular banking operations, including in-branch services and financial transactions, will remain suspended. Customers are advised to plan their banking needs accordingly, making necessary withdrawals and transactions before the holiday period begins.
In addition to the Eid-ul-Fitr holidays, the central bank also issued a separate notification regarding the observance of Pakistan Day. The SBP will remain closed on Sunday, March 23, 2025, in observance of the national holiday, as per the declaration made by the Government of Pakistan.
With these announcements, the banking sector urges customers to utilize digital banking services, including online banking, ATMs, and mobile banking apps, for uninterrupted access to financial transactions during the holiday period.
