The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has officially announced a major update for Muslims worldwide — people holding any type of visa are now allowed to perform Umrah in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This new decision opens the doors of Makkah and Madinah to a larger number of visitors who wish to perform Umrah, even if they are not holding a specific Umrah visa.
According to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), this initiative is part of the Saudi government’s continuous efforts to make Umrah more accessible and convenient for everyone. The goal is to simplify travel and religious procedures while providing high-quality services for all pilgrims. This step also supports the Saudi Vision 2030, which aims to improve religious tourism and strengthen the Kingdom’s position as a global hub for Islamic visitors.
Eligible Visa Categories
The Ministry explained that this rule applies to several visa types. These include personal visit visas, family visit visas, tourist e-visas, transit visas, and work visas. In simple terms, anyone visiting Saudi Arabia for any legal purpose can now take the opportunity to perform Umrah, provided they meet the basic requirements.
In an official statement, the Ministry said, “This initiative reflects the Kingdom’s ongoing commitment to helping Muslims around the world fulfill their spiritual duties easily and peacefully.” The authorities hope that these new measures will make the process smoother and more welcoming for all visitors.
Nusuk Umrah Platform
The Ministry also highlighted the importance of the Nusuk Umrah Platform, an innovative digital system that simplifies the entire Umrah journey. Through this online platform, users can plan their trips in advance — they can browse and select from available Umrah packages, obtain the necessary permits, and even book transportation, accommodation, and service timings, all from one place. This digital transformation is designed to make the experience faster, safer, and more organized.
Ensuring a Safe and Enriching Experience
Officials emphasized that these updates are part of the government’s strong commitment to providing pilgrims with a safe, peaceful, and spiritually fulfilling experience. The statement from the Ministry noted that “these measures show the dedication of the Government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince to serve pilgrims and visitors in the best possible way.”
The Ministry added that their ultimate goal is to deliver world-class services that make every pilgrim’s journey memorable and comfortable. By improving facilities, streamlining visa access, and enhancing digital systems, Saudi Arabia continues to demonstrate its devotion to serving Islam and welcoming millions of worshippers from across the globe.
