Punjab University Announces Massive Tuition Fee Increase for 2025

Punjab University has officially announced a significant increase in tuition fees for various academic programs, which will take effect this month. The decision has left many students and their families worried about how they will manage the extra financial burden.

According to the university’s latest notification, the fee hike ranges between 16% and 59%, depending on the program. On average, students will now be paying 28% more in tuition fees compared to last year.

The highest increase has been applied to the LLM (Master of Laws) program. Students enrolled in this course will now have to pay an additional Rs 5,825, marking a steep 59% rise in tuition costs. This has sparked concern among students who were already struggling to afford postgraduate education.

Other programs have also seen noticeable hikes. For example, fees for undergraduate programs such as BSc, BCom, BBA, and even MBA have gone up by 15%. These increases mean students in business and science streams will also be facing added expenses for the new academic session.

Students enrolled in the Doctor of Pharmacy (D Pharmacy) program will now have to pay Rs 23,000, up from the previous Rs 18,000. This is a major jump that could affect the affordability of professional education for many.

Similarly, students pursuing a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) will see their fees rise by 28%, while those in Medical Diploma courses are facing a 16% increase in tuition.

University officials have explained that the revised fee structure was approved by the University Syndicate, which is the institution’s governing body responsible for such decisions. They confirmed that the new rates will be implemented starting this month.

While the university says the decision was made after careful consideration of rising operational costs, students and parents have raised concerns about affordability and lack of financial support. Many are now calling for the university to offer scholarships or installment plans to ease the pressure on financially struggling families.
