Punjab to Pay College Teaching Interns Up to Rs 65,000 Monthly Under New Scheme

The Punjab government has officially approved a large-scale monthly stipend program worth Rs 4.217 billion for college teaching interns across the province. This significant initiative aims to provide financial support to over 8,000 teaching interns currently serving in Punjab’s government colleges. It is part of the government’s broader effort to encourage young educators, enhance the quality of education, and create more employment opportunities in the education sector.

According to the approved plan, teaching interns at the intermediate level will receive a monthly stipend of Rs 55,000, while BS-level interns will be paid Rs 65,000 per month. These stipends are designed to help young teachers meet their financial needs while they gain valuable teaching experience in the classroom.

The internship duration has been clearly defined under this program. For intermediate-level teaching interns, the term will last seven months, while BS-level interns will work for ten months. Upon successful completion of their internship period, each participant will be awarded an experience certificate, which will help them in future job applications and professional growth.

To ensure inclusivity and equal opportunity, the government has also set aside special quotas for various groups. A total of 404 seats have been reserved for minorities, 243 seats for persons with disabilities, and 40 seats for members of the transgender community. These quotas highlight the government’s commitment to diversity and social equality within the education system.

The Rs 4.217 billion budget will cover all expenses, including stipends and other related costs associated with the program’s implementation. This comprehensive funding ensures that the initiative will run smoothly and reach all eligible participants without delays or financial hurdles.

Overall, this move by the Punjab government is a positive step toward empowering young teachers, improving educational standards, and promoting inclusiveness in society. By offering financial stability and professional training to thousands of interns, the government hopes to build a stronger, more skilled teaching workforce for the future.
